Ready to unlock the secrets of Montenegro’s most stunning National Park? Your journey begins in the charming fishing village of Virpazar, the gateway to the lake. We don’t just take you across the water; we navigate a hidden, narrow canal lined with swaying reeds and weeping water willows. As we glide beneath the Vranjina bridge and through a floating carpet of water chestnuts, the ruins of Lesendro Fortress emerge from the horizon.
Known as the “Key of Lake Skadar,” and once a mighty defence, it is now a peaceful haven for the park’s diverse bird species. Keep your camera ready, the view of the ruins against the backdrop of the open lake is one of the most iconic sights in Montenegro.
Feel the rush of fresh air as we reach the confluence where the lake meets its richest tributary, the Morača River. From here, our boat steers toward a trio of enchanting islands: Mala Čakovica, Velika Čakovica, and Kamenik.
Prepare to be mesmerised. The waters surrounding these islets are draped in endless fields of white water lilies and lush vegetation. It is a breathtaking display of nature that changes with the seasons, offering a vibrant splash of colour against the deep blue water.
