Our Private Lake Skadar Boat Tour is a truly personal and immersive way to experience the wild beauty and rich heritage of Montenegro’s most iconic lake. Your adventure begins in Virpazar, the picturesque gateway to Lake Skadar National Park. Here, a member of our friendly Kingfisher team will greet you, share local insights, and ensure you’re comfortable before you step aboard our lovingly maintained traditional wooden boat – a vessel designed for both comfort and authenticity.

As we gently cruise away from Virpazar’s historic pier, you’ll be surrounded by the lush embrace of willows and reeds, a haven for wildlife and a photographer’s dream. Emerging from the canal, the vast, sparkling waters of Lake Skadar unfold before you – a living landscape that changes with the seasons. This is the largest lake in the Balkans, a protected national park, and a UNESCO-designated wetland of international importance, home to over 280 bird species including the rare Dalmatian pelican and pygmy cormorant.

Our route takes you beneath the iconic Tanki Rt bridge and past the evocative ruins of Lesendro Fortress, a centuries-old stronghold that once guarded the lake’s waters. Today, Lesendro is a sanctuary for birds, where you can often spot cormorants and herons basking in the sun. In the distance, the green slopes of Vranjina Island rise from the lake, while the mighty Morača River feeds the ecosystem with fresh mountain water.

We’ll glide near one of Lake Skadar’s renowned bird reserves, offering you a front-row seat to the region’s vibrant avian life. As we approach the “Amazonia” of Skadar, you’ll be enchanted by floating carpets of white and yellow water lilies – an iconic sight that makes this lake one of Montenegro’s most captivating natural wonders.

Throughout your journey, our local guides will share stories and legends that bring the landscape to life, from ancient monasteries and Ottoman fortresses to the unique karst geology that shapes the lake’s ever-changing shoreline. You’ll have the opportunity to swim in pristine waters, taste the celebrated regional wine, all while soaking in the peace and tranquility that Lake Skadar is famous for.

We pride ourselves on offering a warm experience that goes beyond the ordinary. Our tours are designed to be intimate and flexible, allowing you to connect with the lake’s natural rhythms and discover hidden corners that larger groups often miss.

As we return to Virpazar, you’ll be left with panoramic views and memories of  Lake Skadar that’s as unique as you are. Book your private Lake Skadar boat tour today and let us show you the heart and soul of Montenegro’s wild beauty.

Amazing trip
All around, it was a fantastic trip, that began with a smooth check-in process. Our guide (Dragan) was friendly and informative but relaxed and happy to leave us alone. Fantastic scenery, wine was unlimited, and we also stopped for a brief swim. Virpazar is very small, but we parked in the free parking on the other side of the main road at “Parking Virpazar” - as suggested by the crew. It is a 5 min walk to Kingfisher's info desk.

Great experience!!
Milo was an excellent guide with incredible empathy - when we wanted information, he gave us, and when we tried to enjoy the peace and the scenery, he left us to enjoy. I recommend booking a private tour. The added value of not being surrounded by crowds and group pressure is priceless!

Amazing value for money!
I travelled there personally as we had a hire car. The tour setup was easy to find, full 2 hours on the water, and the guide was brilliant, knowledgeable and very friendly. One not to miss!

An amazing experience!
Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable about the area - free drinks such as local wine on board. The views were awe-inspiring, and the boat ride itself was very relaxing. Recommended!

Breathtaking nature!
It is a fantastic place, nature so close, birds of many species, and these leaves on the water are hard to find anywhere else. Highly recommend!

Friendly staff and fantastic ambience
A pleasant tour with our local guide, enjoying the views of Lake Skadar, stops for photographs and tasting local wines. We didn't swim because the day wasn't scorching.

High value for money!
It is a great attraction, and swimming and jumping into the lake from a boat - is just a fairy tale. Very nice captain and English-speaking guide and a beautiful wooden boat ;)
