Experience

  • Cruise through narrow channels, reachable only by traditional wooden boats.
  • Discover the oldest Monastery on Lake Skadar – Vranjina Monastery.
  • Enjoy a short uphill walk with a backdrop of scenic views.
  • Taste local wine in the wilderness with untouched nature all around.
  • Swim, refresh yourself and enjoy the summer breeze!
  • Start your tour in Virpazar, the tiny fishing village built on the shores of Lake Skadar. Once you arrive at the meeting point, someone from the Kingfisher team will check you in and explain the next steps. After that, you’re all set to board!

Leave the dock following a small river channel surrounded by fields of reeds and rows of willows. Find yourself on the open waters of vast Lake Skadar and watch Vranjina Island and its two peaks rise from the largest lake in southern Europe.

Vranjina Monastery, located on the southeastern side of Vranjina Island, high above the Morača delta, is your next stop. Only one former monastery church has endured the ravages of time, the church dedicated to St. Nicholas.

The walk uphill to the Church of St. Nicholas offers spectacular views of the lake and Morača River, with their shores framed by willows. Just a ten-minute walk, and you will reach the church.

After some time, return to Virpazar with a swimming stop along the way – don’t forget to pack swimsuits and sunscreen.

Reviews

We had a great time on this boat ride!
We went early in the morning, so many birds were out on the lake, and it wasn't too hot. After winding our way through the lake, spying on birds and even spotting some wild goats on one of the islands, we went to the Monastery to look out over that portion of the lake, which was just stunning. We also enjoyed a few glasses of local wine. Lastly was a dip in the lake to cool off. I highly recommend this tour as a chance to peacefully explore the lake in a traditional boat without many other tourists.

Very friendly welcome
Superb tour. Just for us (we were a group of 6). The managers even recommended an excellent restaurant for us before the tour. This lake is lovely. We highly recommend it.
